In 2013 Porchlight Brand Management became the wholesale distributor for Knirps in Australia.
Knirps invented the telescopic-frame umbrella, making it the first umbrella that could be carried in a pocket. In 1928, a company called Bremshey & Co (later Knirps) could see the potential for such an invention and helped produce the first range of this innovative pocket umbrella. It was the beginning of a new era when many different sizes, shapes and colours were developed.
State-of-the-art materials were used, and cutting edge constructions were created, with many of them setting the standard for how umbrellas are now designed – such as the first automatic version in 1965 and the new Knirps XI in 2004, the smallest Knirps of all time.
Knirps umbrellas are the ultimate in German design, engineering and quality. From the pocket sized X1 to the Long AC Steel, there’s an umbrella for everyone. For any weather. Since 1928.
